About This Course

This workshop will consist of an introduction to cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Insomnia is a prevalent sleep disorder associated with health and functional impairment. CBT-I is a brief, evidence-based, treatment that addresses insomnia symptoms. CBT-I helps individuals with insomnia identify factors that maintain sleep disturbance in order to change their sleep related cognitions and behaviors. In this workshop, participants will learn the primary factors that contribute to the pattern of insomnia including conditioned arousal, ineffective habits aimed at improving sleep, and sleep-related worry. Additionally, the workshop will provide an overview of the CBT-I treatment components. Case presentations and audience discussion will be used to facilitate learning.
