About This Course

This is a live interactive webinar course that will take place on December 11, 2026 at 10amEST.

Trauma-focused psychotherapies for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) significantly improve PTSD symptoms, yet premature discontinuation remains a significant challenge (Lewis et al., 2020a; Lewis et al., 2020b; Schnurr et al., 2022).

Written Exposure Therapy (WET; Sloan & Marx, 2025) is a brief, trauma-focused psychotherapy for PTSD that offers an efficient alternative to longer trauma-focused treatments. Research studies have found that WET significantly improves PTSD symptoms comparable with more time-intensive PTSD treatments, while also resulting in lower discontinuation rates (Sloan et al., 2018; Sloan et al., 2022; Sloan et al., 2023).

This 4-hour webinar will provide clinicians with both the current evidence base and practical guidance needed to understand and implement WET in clinical practice. We will review the research supporting WET, discuss key considerations for assessment prior to WET, and review the structure and objectives of each of the five sessions. Attention will be given to clinical decision-making and common questions that arise when delivering this brief intervention, including considerations for telehealth delivery.

Registration deadline: December 11, 2026, 9:30am

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the evidence supporting WET, including its efficacy and completion rates.

  • Describe reasons an individual may not be appropriate for WET.
