About This Course

This is a live interactive webinar course that will take place on October 23, 2026 at 10am EST.

Managing Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is a relentless demand that often begins with a sudden, traumatic diagnosis, leaving patients and families overwhelmed by significant distress. Because many psychologists lack specific T1D education, they may feel unprepared to take these cases.

Without foundational knowledge of the illness, providers risk over-relying on caregiver report, struggling to build rapport with the patient, and inadvertently replicating the social alienation patients already face. Crucially, a lack of disease awareness prevents clinicians from confidently challenging cognitive distortions or distinguishing psychological anxiety and depression from the physiological effects of fluctuating blood sugars. This can lead to early termination from therapy and compromised medical compliance.

This course equips psychologists with the essential T1D knowledge required to confidently deliver effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Participants will learn the basics of T1D management, its daily and social impacts, and its long-term effects. By bridging medical reality with psychological practice, this training empowers providers to build strong therapeutic alliances, accurately differentiate physiological symptoms from mood disorders, and confidently challenge disease-specific distortions to foster lasting clinical success.

Registration deadline: October 23, 2026, 9:30am
